  • Measurement practice

    Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing

    The joint AERA, APA and NCME standards set out how evidence, validity, fairness and reporting should be handled whenever a person's performance is interpreted. Aqli follows their reporting discipline: describe what the evidence supports, and nothing beyond it.

    Cattell–Horn–Carroll model of cognitive abilities

    The most widely evidenced structure of human cognitive abilities describes distinct broad domains: fluid reasoning, working memory, visual processing, processing speed. Aqli's challenge families map onto these documented domains rather than invented labels.

    Memory tasks are designed around the established separation of visuospatial and sequential components, with load varied deliberately instead of by simply adding more items.

    Instructions, visual layout and interface are kept deliberately light so that effort goes into the reasoning itself, not into decoding the screen. That is the core of Sweller's work on intrinsic and extraneous load.

    Challenge is targeted just beyond what is already comfortable, following Vygotsky's principle and the adaptive-item-selection logic used in modern computerised adaptive testing.

    The UK Children's Code sets fifteen standards for services children are likely to use: data minimisation, high-privacy defaults, no nudge techniques, transparency in language children understand. Aqli is built against them.

    Children's accounts are created and controlled by a parent, child access is limited to play only, sensitive actions require the parent again, and only data the experience genuinely needs is collected.
